Heidi recycles

Since my marketing talk at the ITI Gernet Work and Playshop was so well received, but unfortunately passed in a haze of painkillers due to the speaker suffering from a severe sinus infection, I decided to do it again, this time hopefully compos mentis. On Wednesday, 25th June 2008 I will speak at the North West Translators' Network (or NWTN) meeting, 7-9pm at the YHA in Manchester.

After a brief general overview of how marketing is the route to successful selling, we will discuss how this applies especially to freelance translators and smaller translation companies. We will look at concepts like marketing plan, targets, SWOT analysis, and see how translators can use these to establish and grow their business. We will cover advertising, web presence, contact management, and many other useful marketing tools.

The NWTN welcomes all language professionals and everyone interested in languages to their meetings which are free of charge.

I'm really looking forward the the evening, not only because I get to talk a lot, but also because I am expecting to see many good friends, wonderful clients such as Nick Rosenthal from SalfTrans, Zulphia and Kerri from Linguaset, and Carla Brass from the Languages For Business Centre, as well as many new faces.
